I'm for the NaruSaku side. I'm going to analyze somethings.
The first main arguement from the SakuSasu arguement is about Sakura loves Sasuke, therefore, they'll be together. This is extremely contradictory because Naruto loves Sakura, so unless SakuSasu fans want a threesome, this arguement is arbitrary. On another note, Sakura's character is almost entirely based off her relationships. So instead of Sakura having to overcome something like a family member's death or social alienation, Sakura would have to overcome something like a romantic failure. She would have to love and lose, a primary theme for character developement in 'Naruto'. Sakura overcoming her love for Sasuke and coming out okay is Sakura's vengence or her quest to become hokage (True love). It is her goal. But Sasuke was a metaphor for love. But goals change and the motivation that surrounds them. Naruto originally wanted to become Hokage because HE wanted regonition and status. Sasuke wanted to kill Itachi because HE wanted to make sense of that horrible night. Later Naruto realized that becoming Hokage was about OTHER PEOPLE. Sasuke realized that ITACHI deserved to die. They still maintain that original desire, but they have far wider views on the subject. Same goes for Sakura, she originally wanted Sasuke because he was everything SHE wanted someone perfect for HERSELF. Sakura now realizes there is a difference than what she dreamed. That love is something that TWO PEOPLE SHARE.
Back on the subject of TWO PEOPLE. Ever notice that Sakura's fantasies of Sasuke are completely different than what he is actually like? Sasuke is always being loving and romantic, something that Sasuke, in love or not, isn't. But who is affectionate and tenacious? Naruto. He would say cheesy love lines like crazy. Love is something that two people share and can rely on. Naruto and Sakura rely on each other and can TALK with one another. Love is about understanding, comprehending a person's thoughts. Sakura is too good-hearted to ever understand Sasuke's brutal ideals. Even when Sakura did love Sasuke, she believed he would become some super-romantic, passionite, tangible person. Even if they do end up together, Sasuke will NEVER be that way.
There is a story similar to SakuSasu. The Count of Monte Cristo, but his revenge was more important than his love, and she didn't end up with him. Sakura is Sasuke's friend, and when the story ends I believe he will love her...and Naruto....as FRIENDS. His revenge was more important than her friendship, so they can't end up romantically.
I've heard people say that Sakura was more important than Naruto. No. Just, no. Naruto was more important, he was like his brother. Kishimoto put hundred times more focus on their friendship than the Sasuke Sakura relationship. So you can't say Sakura was more important. That can be told through the story-telling.
NaruSaku will happen for many reasons. Reasons that people are going to state later on. OBVIOUS reasons. And male authors tend to lean towards the 'obvious' pairing than the 'omg-I-love-to-hate-you-angst-hot-smex-pairings'. Just a fact.
